Around the World in 12 Years and 12 Square Meters: Memories and Insights

A lot can happen in 12 square meters: you can fall in love, see the world, and go on the greatest adventures of your life. Although small in size, the Fuchur opened up the entire world to Steffen Russak and his beloved wife Marianne. Their adventures spanned multiple countries, languages, and cultures. All of this began with one small dream of traveling the world and truly enjoying every minute.

When Russak’s sweetheart of 55 years lost her battle with breast cancer, he chose to memorialize her through his book, sharing their tales with the entire world. His dream is to inspire other explorers to embrace the world around them by traveling and soaking in the experiences it has to offer.

PRAISE FOR THE BOOK

Barbara Bamberger Scott

“Russak began work on this dynamic travel memoir after Marianne passed away, the book comprising his memorial to their loving, long-lasting bond…With its remarkable tales and a couple of “fables” included for pure imaginative enjoyment, Russak’s large volume makes a satisfying read and a perfect “vehicle” for armchair travelers, perhaps – intentionally – inciting some to finish reading the couple’s saga, get up, and go.”
Viewing An Elephant Inside A Van Through Window

Michelle Jacobs

“Russak writes stoically about logistics and joyfully about the wonders of new places. This strong combination results in a highly readable and entertaining story that will inspire readers to hit the road in search of new adventures. He does not shy from the pitfalls, problems, and risks they encounter. From mechanical problems, accidents, and a near drowning, Russak gives an honest portrayal of the perils of driving and camping through Africa, Australia, South America, and beyond."
